… that Guy in Milton

Many years ago, I got a phone call at the Studio and the lady asked me, “Are you that guy in Milton that does photography”? I liked the phrase so much I have used it ever since, now for 21 years. So many people have searched “that guy in Milton” on Google,  my website appears at the top of the Google list.

Pat Bullock,
My life’s journey to this point has taken me though different professional channels but I think photography was so deeply rooted in my system I was destined to return.

In 1975, at 16,  I shot my first wedding with a Yashica Mat 124 Camera and developed the B/W prints in our Darkroom. I followed my brother’s footsteps in High School on the Yearbook staff and as the local Photographer in our town. In my senior year, I decided to go to College for Electronics. During College I met my wife of 30 years, then after graduating in Electronics I went to work for CP&L as an Electronics Tech. I continued with CP&L for almost 20 years spending the last 10 years in Management at Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant in Raleigh NC. In 1997 I left CP&L and returned to Professional Photography as General Manager of a Professional Photography Colour Lab in Charlotte NC and started Sterling Images of NC.
In 2007 after almost 10 years in the Colour Lab business, the decision was again obvious; I returned to photography fulltime and devoted myself to Sterling Images. We are truly a family business, my wife and daughters all work in the business along with my Parents and my Wife’s Parents. My son-in law, my niece, Brother and Sister in law and numerous friends also help us in the business. My wife and family have always supported the business, without them I know it would fail. I never wanted my business named after me, since it is truly a Family business I got the name from my Father in law, Sterling Hudson, (our Custom Framer).

I don’t believe there is a better job on the planet that allows you to touch more lives than Photography. There is also no better feeling than a mother crying when she looks at a Portrait of her child that we created at Sterling Images. Thanks to all of our many loyal customers, it is truly a pleasure working with each of you.
